Big Disco
Large scale event with International campaign
On the 1st of July 2016, the inception of BIG DISCO marked a significant milestone, emerging as a one-of-a-kind event during the Yorkshire Festival.
Distinguished by its deviation from the ordinary, embrace of the unusual, and penchant for the unexpected, BIG DISCO unfolded as a multifaceted spectacle. It seamlessly blended elements of urban regeneration, cultural resonance, artistic expression, and musical allure, converging into an exuberant celebration of epic proportions.
The day itself became a historical juncture, hosting the grandest intergenerational party ever witnessed in Leeds.
Preceding the event, the anticipation was heightened by an extraordinary national tongue-in-cheek campaign, complemented by strategically placed brand-partnered activations throughout the city. Notably, a splendid array of miniature discos materialized in diverse settings, ranging from schools and shopping centres to hospitals, ensuring that the joy of BIG DISCO resonated with all.
This ambitious undertaking transcended borders, capturing the attention of an international audience and culminating in a remarkable feat – 22,000 individuals, united across the globe, dancing in unison to a singular tune.
BIG DISCO, in its entirety, became an inclusive and joyous experience, leaving an indelible mark on the collective memory of those who partook in this unparalleled celebration.
The BIG DISCO lead up was as big as the day itself. Its not possible to summarise it in just a couple of
pictures. Below is just a little taster of all that happened.
